Nicolas Chartier and Ara Keshishian are both on board as producers for the film, Variety reported, and working with Zac has been a longtime dream for Nicolas.

“I have been trying to work with Zac Efron for a long time,” he revealed. “From his dramatic turn in Paperboy to his hilarious performance in Neighbors, he continues to impress audiences and critics alike with his extraordinary versatility and range. Born in 1946, Ted was a notorious American serial killer, kidnapper, rapist, burglar, and necrophile and his psychologists believe that he started killing when he was a teenager. During the height of his reign of terror in the early 1970s, many female college students disappeared from the Pacific Northwest — at a rate of about one per month. He lured his victims in with his good looks and earned their trust before committing his crimes.

He met Elizabeth in 1969, and she was a recent divorcée at the time. She was the one who eventually reported Ted as a suspect to the police in 1974 and he was arrested the following year. He spent the next decade in and out of prison before he was finally sentenced to the death penalty. He was executed in Florida on January 24, 1989.
