Rapper Iggy Azalea is crediting twerking for her recent 15-pound weight loss!
The Australian claims she had to dance so much for her “Mo Bounce” music video that she shed weight without even trying. “It’s a lot — I went on a meal plan before the video because I knew I would have to be dancing fairly skimpily dressed. I did a lot of rehearsals actually, and man, I lost 15 pounds in a week dancing to that song!” she told New Zealand radio station Nova 96.9.
Although the 26-year-old may look like a twerking pro in the racy video, she admitted to having some help. “I did take classes. I do have someone who is very, very good at twerking, and she helped me. I never realized how flexible you have to be to do that stuff,” she said.
“My teacher was like ‘I really suggest you take yoga,’ and I didn’t know you had to take yoga to be a twerker, but apparently you do,” she added.
“Mo Bounce” is the second single off of Iggy’s upcoming album, Digital Distortion, which was supposed to be released last year. The “Fancy” hitmaker postponed the date due to a few unforeseen complications.
“It’s no secret, I kind of had my personal life fall apart… I needed a lot of time,” she told People magazine in September. “I mean, you wake up one morning and your fiancé is having a baby with someone else, you’re going to need some time, right?”
Iggy and her fiancé Nick Young went through a rocky split in June after it was revealed that he got his ex-girlfriend pregnant. “I don’t want to go and promote my album and get asked about my relationship that has just crumbled,” she said at the time.
