You knew it was a good day when the teacher would announce that there will be a guest speaker (mainly because that means less note-taking and lectures), but imagine if that person turned out to be Kanye West?
That’s precisely what happened on Friday, when the famous rapper made a surprise appearance at LA Trade Technical College. E! News learns that the rapper spent about two hours speaking to a group of 40 students from their digital communications department as well as troubled youth who are part of a summer bridge program and may not have graduated from high school.
Yeezy’s impromptu drop-in was spent sharing his experiences and personal struggles in the music, fashion and graphic arts industry, as well as talking about the importance of education in hopes of inspiring them.
When asked how he would rate ‘Ye as a teacher, one of the students present during that class reportedly said, “I’ve listened to Kanye since I was younger, but I can’t rate him as a teacher because he didn’t come to teach a fashion class. He just spoke about his inspirations. He didn’t try to be a teacher, he simply spoke about how life really is.”
This isn’t the first time West has made a stop at LATTC. In fact, this is the fourth time (that we know of) that Kanye has gone to talk to students, with his last known visit being in June, where he reportedly participated in a three-hour lecture at the public community college, which is located in downtown Los Angeles.
While we’re sure Yeezy truly enjoys inspiring the next generation, his time in the classroom is also to complete his sentence of 240 hours of community service stemming from an August incident where West attacked a paparazzo at LAX airport.Follow @Infocelebrity on Twitter!
