Selena Gomez may be battling Lupus, according to a shocking report. The 21-year-old recently released a statement claiming that she needed to “spend time” on herself, as the reason for cancelling her tour. But a report on Popdust.com alleges that the singer has recently suffered multiple “flares” stemming from Lupus, including facial swelling, extreme fatigue and more.
HollywoodLife.com immediately reached out to Selena’s rep who had “no comment” regarding the shocking claims.
“Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now,” a source tells Popdust.com. “She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life.”
Lupus is known to cause severe joint pain, stiffness, headaches, fever, fatigue and memory loss. It is a disease more prevalent in women 15 to 35 years-of-age. The disease is currently incurable but it is treatable.
Mariah Carey‘s husband, Nick Cannon, also suffers from the disease.
Again, this has not been confirmed by Selena or her camp.
When she decided to cut her tour short, this is what she released in a statement:
My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.
