Selena Gomez — making the decision to cancel your 3-week tour of the Far East and Australia and announcing it on December 19 couldn’t have been an easy decision. This is what you said in your statement: “My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
You’ve always been a completely dedicated and hard worker ever since you starred as Gianna in Barney & Friends. You’ve been working nonstop since you were 10 years old and you’ve had a hugely successful career on Wizards of Waverly Place, then in films like Princess Protection Program and Ramona and Beezus.
And then you blew all your doubters away when you started recording albums and touring successfully. Just this year you had two huge hits, with “Come & Get It” and “Slow Down.”
Selena, what you’ve done is amazing. And we haven’t even talked about your licensed collections of clothing and fragrance, plus your work as a UNICEF spokesperson, which has involved raising millions of dollars to help underprivileged children.
Really, how many young women in this country or even around the world have these kinds of accomplishments under their belts? Very, very few.
Plus, you’ve handled your success and celebrity with total grace and love. You never stopped greeting your fans, posing for photos with them and even visiting sick fans in the hospital.
That’s why you mustn’t feel in any way guilty about needing to take this break now in order to “spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.” You’ve earned this break, big time.
Hey Selena, let’s not forget that you just finished a three-and-a-half month tour through Canada, Europe and the U.S. that was back-to-back with performances. No wonder you’re exhausted! Any human being would be with this grueling schedule. But the question is: did your feelings for Justin Bieber have anything to do with the tour cancellation?
A source close to the Stars Dance tourtold HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that “she didn’t cancel her tour because of Justin [Bieber]. She’s exhausted, she’s been on tour all year. Plus, she’s been working nonstop doing back to back movies. She’s very, very tired. It wasn’t an easy decision for Selena. She really hates to let anyone down so this wasn’t something she did just out of the blue, but it’s what she needs to do to take care of herself right now.”
Nevertheless, you’ve still been coping with the emotional stress from your split with boyfriend of two years, Justin Bieber.
You still love Justin — at least the Justin that you originally fell in love with, multiple sources have told HollywoodLife.com.
You posted a message on Instagram on December 23 saying: “I’m the happiest I’ve been in a while. So blessed and thankful for the future, for release and to finally be happy for those I loved.” In the photo, you’re holding your adorable baby sister Grace and the message certainly seems to convey that you’re relieved with your decision to quit touring and to be able to spend time with your close family.
But it also seems to imply that you’re happy for Justin and that you’re over him. However, we hear that you’re not the least bit over Justin yet. “That was a message for Justin,” a source tellsHollywoodLife.com exclusively. “She wants him to think she’s doing totally fine without him, but she’s still missing him badly, especially now because of the holidays.”
We get it, Selena. It’s so hard to be estranged from the one you love, especially when he still loves you too, sources have told us. But of course, Selena, you don’t know when Justin will be mature enough to get it together enough to truly be with you again.
Right now, we hear that your family has advised you to get some therapy and to stay with them so they can watch over you. We also hear that you plan to “hang out a lot in the coming weeks with close friends like Taylor Swift. Taylor has been a really good support system for Selena in recents weeks,” a source told RadarOnline.
All of those are really good ideas. Rest up, spend time with your close family and friends. Relax and have fun. Put your own needs first!
Selena, you’ve given so much to your fans already. They will understand and will wait until you’re ready to tour and perform again.
You have a long life ahead to focus on your career again when you feel ready. Just think about it — most young women are just graduating from college at your age and they haven’t even started their careers. You’ve already been at it for a dozen years!
So, Selena, congratulations on having the courage to make the tough decision to take the break you need. You’ve earned it and deserved it!
Plus, now maybe, you’ll get the time to work through your feelings about Justin and truly get over him, or maybe you two will finally be able to work your love out, since it sounds like he may be take time off!Follow @Infocelebrity on Twitter!
