Selena Gomez is proud of her good girl image—and rightfully so! Unlike some of her peers (we’re looking at you, Miley Cyrus), the 21-year-old pop princess tells the December 2013/January 2014 issue of Teen Vogue that she won’t be reinventing her image in the wake of her breakup with Justin Bieber.
“You fall in love and it completely consumes you,” Gomez tells the fashion magazine, per excerpts released in The New York Daily News. “So a part of you is broken when that’s gone. And part of you wants to have that rebellious feeling where you’re just like, forget it—I can do anything I want. I’ve tried it, and I’ve never been that girl. I’m always going to be the girl you want to take home to your parents, not for the night.”
“I like to say I have a good sense of judgment, but I know that not everybody does,” she explains. “The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve learned that I have to open myself up to all opportunities. Maybe I’ll get burned and not meet the right people, but I won’t know until I do it.”
In spite of her success, Gomez says that she’ll do whatever it takes to “feel human and normal.”
“My attention span is all over the place, and I overthink things,” she tells Teen Vogue. “I’m an insomniac. Dancing allows me to go away and not have to think of what I’m doing next. That is the opportunity for me to really escape.”
Gomez remains optimistic about her uncertain future. “I’m 21, so now I’ve entered the decade of confusion about who I am and what I want to do with my life,” she tells Teen Vogue, “and that’s what this entire decade’s going to be.”Follow @Infocelebrity on Twitter!
