Miley Cyrus Cries (a Lot) in New Director’s Cut Music Video for “Wrecking Ball”—Watch Now!

Published on September 25, 2013 by   ·   No Comments Cyrus has released a director’s cut version of her “Wrecking Ball” music video! So what’s so different about the new vid?

For starters, there’s no naked wrecking-ball-riding. No sledgehammer-licking. No underwear-flashing (that we can see). No cinderblock-smashing. No rolling around in debris.

In the very simple, beautiful and emotional video, a sobbing Cyrus sings the entire “Wrecking Ball” song with a close-up shot of her face appearing on the screen the whole time. At several points during the video, which is shot in one take with no cutaways, the 20-year-old wipes tears from her eyes and running down her face while belting out the moving lyrics. (Kinda like Anne Hathaway is Les Mis!)

And judging from most of the comments on the YouTube vid, fans seem to be loving the director’s cut version even more than the original. “SO MUCH BETTER than the original,” one viewer wrote. “This video really touches me.”

“This is a thousand times more moving than any symbolism,” another posted. “This is honest and human. This is art. Keep doing this.” A third fan shared, “they should have put this version out instead of the other.”

Cyrus’ original video for the ballad has racked up over 150 million views on YouTube since coming out earlier this month.

Cyrus tweeted about the new video earlier today, writing, “Directors Cut @Terry_World #wreckingball,” referencing the video’s director Terry Richardson.
