Lady Gaga had some venting to do today, so naturally the pop star turned to Twitter to rant.
Mother Monster shared her feelings on what it means to be a celebrity in today’s world and how she couldn’t exist without her fan base.
But the singer also wanted to explain to her devotees why her first single from Artpop is so important to her.
“‘Applause’ is a very meaningful song to me, because it addresses what many think of ‘celebrities’ today, that we ‘do it’ for the attention,” she said in the opening of her multitweet message.
“But some of us are ‘artists’ in this group called ‘celebrity,’ & what we create doesn’t live on unless theres an audience to remember it.”
But Gaga was quick to explain that she isn’t solely after everyone’s attention or the limelight, she just wants to share her work with people in the hopes that they enjoy it.
“So I may need your attention at first, so I can sing you my song. But it’s the ‘Applause’ after that let me know if I’ve entertained you.”
And don’t worry Little Monsters, she didn’t end her lengthy Twitter spree there.
Gaga’s tell-all revealed her motivations behind getting into the music industry and also gave some insight into what makes her tick.
And while the rant seemed to humanize the larger-than-life persona that Gaga represents, it was her final tweet that was the most humble.
“APPLAUSE IS ON @1027KIISFM RIGHT NOW!!,” she wrote. “I AM DANCING IN MY ROOM I SOMETIMES CAN’T BELIEVE IM A POPSTAR, everyday I punch myself!”
“Entertainment makes people happy, I live for the ‘Applause,’ to know I’ve spread that. I live to hear you cheer, to just be a part of that,” she said.
“I believe in show business. The ‘Applause’ is what breeds that thing that I love. When I know I’ve made you happy. When I know it was good.”Follow @Infocelebrity on Twitter!
