On Thursday, a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge against the singer was dismissed in Superior Court, despite the L.A. City Attorney’s objections.
Frank Mateljan, L.A. City Attorney spokesman, confirmed that it was “over our objection” the court granted the motion to dismiss the charge, which stemmed from Brown’s May 21, 2013, accident in Toluca Lake. Mateljan explained, however, the charge was dismissed done “under 1377 and 1378 of the penal code,” which allows for certain misdemeanors to be compromised if civil action is able to settle the dispute.
No money was exchanged between Brown and the other motorist involved. She agreed to the deal, however, saying she was being “castigated” on social media.
“We are grateful the judge saw fit to dismiss the lone remaining charge against Chris over the prosecutor’s objection,” Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos told.
As for the singer himself, he seemed relieved. He tweeted a link touting the news of his legal victory, adding simply, ” !!!!!!! Thank GOD!”Follow @Infocelebrity on Twitter!
