Relax Marshmallows; the highly anticipatedVeronica Mars movie will not be the end of the series as creator Rob Thomas has inked a two-book deal with Alloy Entertainment, the publisher behind The Vampire Diaries andGossip Girl series, to continue the beloved sleuth’s story after she hits the big screen in 2014. Best. News. Ever.
The book’s plot will pick up where the movie ends and should be hitting bookshelves in the spring of 2014, with Thomas developing and co-writing the series.
“I started my career as a novelist. Veronica Mars was first imagined as a novel. I’m thrilled that I’m going to get the opportunity to continue telling Veronica Mars stories in a form I’ve loved and missed,” Thomas tells The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the news of his book deal.
Alloy, which is also responsible for the development of series such as Pretty Little Liars andThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, is a division of Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind Veronica Mars.
Of course, the cult series has found itself in the spotlight once again after raising more than $5 million on Kickstarter to fund a reunion movie, which is currently filming in Los Angeles. Set to return for the series’ big screen debut? Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Ryan Hansen, Chris Lowell and Tina Majorino, among others.
