Just days after dislocating her shoulder on the set of a video shoot, the injured singer was spotted wearing a customized sequined sling that perfectly matched her gown as she made her way to New York City’s Central Park to perform at the Major League Baseball’s All-Star Charity Concert benefiting Hurricane Sandy relief efforts on Saturday.
“It was truly an honor to perform with world renowned NY Philharmonic,” Carey tweetedfollowing the show. “In spite of the pain, I wouldn’t have ever missed this moment. Thanks for helping me get through it and sharing it with me.”
Carey was rushed to the hospital on July 7 while filming a video for the remix of “#Beautiful.”
According to the New York Post, which was first to report on the Grammy winner’s injury, the singer was treated at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery on the Upper East Side. There, doctors reportedly reset her shoulder and she was sent home to recover.
On July 9, Carey tweeted out a photo of herself sitting up in a hospital bed, writing, “sporting a very fashionable sling for the next couple of weeks!”
A couple of days later, the pop chanteuse posted a video showing her actually leaving the hospital.
In the clip, the singer is seen being whisked out of the hospital in a wheelchair to a waiting car.
“Well, that was fun,” she quips into the camera.
Carey later took to Twitter to provide an update on her recovery.
“Thanks for all the well wishes. Still in a lot of pain – cracked rib, fractured shoulder, bruises everywhere, but the show must go on,” she wrote on July 11, referring to the benefit concert.
